Who We Serve

We serve at-risk youth all over the globe. Our ongoing mission is to support community development through the building up of the youth of the area. It is our desire to foster their strengths so that they realize the dreams in their heart could be a reality in what may seem a hopeless situation.
In August of 2019 we hosted our first event for the youth in Zimbabwe. Over 230 kids showed up to have fun and hear about what LDJ is bringing to Zimbabwe in 2020! Below is a recap video of the event:

Why?

We sent a survey out to about 31 youth in Zimbabwe that we are directly connected with to see what activities they are involved in, if any.

The results we found are below and show us that 50% of the youth surveyed spent the majority of their afternoons just letting time pass, with no real outlet or activity.  Only 7.1% participate in sports and only 21.4% work. The details of their work is unknown.

School is year round in Zimbabwe and so their breaks are spread out throughout the year and tend to be long. We asked the youth what they are involved in while not at school. Some even attend boarding school and go from being around their classmates all day to being at home, separated from their peers.  As shown, only 21% spend their time working or volunteering and only 26.7% spend time with their friends. The rest of their listed activities are passive and disengaging.
